What was the most impactful class you took in your major?
My most impactful class was GLOA 492 with Professor Moore. It was my first real independent research experience, and I learned a lot about myself and what I am capable of academically. My final project, "War and Genocide: The Case of the Liberian Civil War," solidified my interest in studying genocide prevention, and is part of the reason I want to pursue a PhD.
What activities were you involved in during your time at George Mason that impacted you?
I am a senior on the Women's Swim and Dive team, which helped me develop my time management and teamwork skills in a sport I love. My teammates have been a huge source of support through all my academic ventures, cheering me on through even my most niche of classes/projects. I was also a Global Political Fellow in the spring of 2024—my favorite part was the cohort experience as we all bonded over the tough classes and internship struggles.
What is your most memorable moment at George Mason inside or outside of the classroom?
Presenting my GLOA capstone at the Spring 2024 symposium—not only was it a first-time experience for me, but it was also such a great environment. Everyone that came by was so genuine and kind while I nerded out about my research.
As you are reflecting on your time at George Mason, what is one piece of advice you would give a student who is just starting off on their Mason journey?
Take advantage of every interesting class or opportunity you can—it's how I ended up with a dual degree, double minors, and a nearly complete master’s degree. Throw yourself fully into what you are interested in and see where it takes you!
What is your next step after graduation? What are your future plans?
I will be at George Mason for another two semesters as I transition to full-time graduate studies. After that I hope to be admitted into a PhD program or start a career in the conflict resolution/security field.
