Do you have a particular standout course or professor from your time as an undergraduate student?
During my time at Mason, my favorite class was Introduction to Global Affairs (GLOA 101), taught by Dr. Karen E. Rosenblum at Mason Korea. This course marked the beginning of my academic journey at Mason, and, having just graduated from high school, it provided a captivating introduction to the interconnectedness of our world across economic, business, political, cultural, and environmental dimensions. Dr. Rosenblum's teaching method remains etched in my memory, characterized by her creative approach to capture our attention during those early 10 am classes. She would intentionally drop a book or tap the microphone, ensuring we were fully engaged while emphasizing crucial lecture points.
What activities were you involved in during your time at Mason that impacted you the most?
One impactful activity during my time at Mason was joining the RSO named "Campers at Mason," which held gatherings every Thursday at the Johnson Center. Attending this Korean-speaking Christian fellowship allowed me to interact with international students from Korea and Korean immigrants raised in the NOVA area. It was a chance to understand the lives of Korean immigrants in the region and contribute to building a community where Koreans could gather weekly to share their experiences and thoughts.
Share a memorable "Mason moment."
The most memorable period at GMU was when I transitioned from Mason Korea to Fairfax. While being away from home and adapting to a new environment presented challenges initially, yet meeting new people in class and through on-campus activities allowed me to broaden my perspective on the person I wanted to become. The three semesters in Fairfax marked a transformative time in my life, helping me grow into a more independent and authentic version of myself. I am truly grateful for the opportunities Mason has provided throughout the years and I truly cherish the 4 years I spent here as a proud Patriot.
Reflecting on your time at Mason, what is one piece of advice you would give a student who is just starting off on their Mason journey?
You are in the safe zone under the title of a "university student!" Seize all the opportunities you have to discover your talents, passions, and dreams that will serve as sources of motivation throughout your life.
What is your next step?
I plan to find a job that aligns with my interests, particularly in the marketing field. I hope to continue my career journey at Mason as well.
