About Gretchen Franke: Gretchen Franke is a second generation Foreign Service Officer who obtained a B.A. in International Studies from George Mason University. Prior to joining the Foreign Service she had a career in the luxury hospitality industry, and she also worked in international publishing for the National Geographic Society.
Ms. Franke joined the Department of State in 2009 and served two consular tours in Monterrey, Mexico and Panama City, Panama. She is currently the Public Diplomacy Desk Officer for Southern Africa, with responsibility for 12 countries.
Her husband will be joining the Foreign Service this summer, and they are proud parents to their three year old Mexican-American daughter.
