Junior Global Affairs Major Shares Internship Insights with Local Media

Yoonseo Cho, a junior majoring in Global Affairs at Mason Korea, recently shared her internship experience at the Green Climate Fund (GCF) in an exclusive interview with the local daily, Kyeongin Ilbo, in honor of the institution’s 10th anniversary.

During her six-month internship at GCF, headquartered in Songdo, Cho served as the Assistant to the Incheon City Liaison Officer. In this role, she supported GCF Secretariat staff from around the world adjust to Incheon. Her responsibilities included facilitating diplomatic registrations, securing driver's licenses, and guiding the staff through the various benefits offered by the Incheon Government. Cho also acted as a liaison between GCF and Incheon City Hall, supporting officials dispatched to the GCF Secretariat.

Reflecting on her experience, Cho expressed, "I believe Incheon is a city that inspires young people to dream of working for international organizations. It's something more Incheon citizens should be aware of and take pride in," said the Jeju Island native.

Although Cho did not directly engage in GCF's professional projects or research during her internship, she found immense satisfaction in regularly interacting with GCF employees. These seasoned professionals shared valuable insights and advice on career paths related to international organizations, enriching her understanding of the field.

Beyond her contributions at GCF, Cho has been a passionate advocate for sustainability on campus, previously serving as the President of the student environment club, the Green Patriots. Currently on a leave of absence, she plans to return as a senior next year, eager to apply her enriched experiences to her final year at Mason.
